‘Meet and Treat’ appointments
For a number of years, Chris has been offering ‘Meet and Treat’ appointments for a range of skin complaints. In these appointments, the patient remains awake and the area numbed if appropriate/necessary.
What is a ‘Meet and Treat’ appointment?
This is where, within the same appointment, Chris will meet a patient (whether it’s a returning patient with a new issue or a new patient being seen for the first time) and provide treatment, whether it is a steroid injection, freeze procedure (cryotherapy), a small surgical procedure or BOTOX treatment. In order to ensure the treatment is appropriate and can be performed on the day, these appointments require Chris’s pre-approval, which is why they need to be booked through his secretary, Natalie.
The removal of a skin complaint, including skin lesions, lumps and bumps, is usually undertaken under local anaesthetic. For children or anxious individuals EMLA cream can be applied one hour in advance of the appointment which will numb the area.
What type of treatment is most suitable for these appointments?
These appointment are generally for the removal of skin lesions, including moles, skin tags, cysts and lipomas. Steroid injections can be given in this way, if appropriate, as can cryotherapy treatment and BOTOX injections. In babies, the application of ear buddy splints may also be appropriate in this type of consultation.
Who are these appointments most suitable for?
These appointments are ideal for those who have a specific skin complaint which they would like removed/treated as quickly as possible and/or for those short on time. The patient should be comfortable with local anaesthesia or injections and the treatment must not be complex.
How do I make an appointment?
In order to facilitate this and ensure a ‘Meet and Treat’ appointment is appropriate, a discussion with or without photos in advance needs to be supplied to Chris’s PA at natalie@chrisabela.co.uk or you can call her to discuss on 0203 545 2990. She will pass the query onto Chris for his perusal.
How long is a ‘Meet and Treat’ appointment?
These appointments are 30 – 50 minutes long. Patients need to arrive 10 minutes before their appointment time to fill in the accompanying paperwork.
How quickly can I be seen?
If a ‘Meet and Treat’ appointment is the most appropriate course of action, Natalie will look to book you in as soon as possible. Most patients are seen within two weeks of booking. If there is no clinical or social urgency, then Chris will advise when best to facilitate a smooth recovery period.
Where will I be seen?
Chris has clinics in London Harley Street and Wimbledon Parkside so you will be able to choose which is the most convenient location and timing.
