Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic is now a distant memory, some of the measures brought in by Chris Abela’s clinic have proven so successful they have been made a permanent fixture.
These include:
  • The availability of more virtual consultations where appropriate and more caution for some patients.
  • ‘See and Treat’ appointments to reduce time spent in the hospital and out of one’s day
  • Continual review and update policies and practices, especially in light of new viruses
Whilst testing for COVID-19 is no longer required prior to surgery, staying in good health ahead of a procedure remains a priority.

Right from the outset I felt very comfortable with Mr Abela. His diagnosis was commendably clear and the options for dealing with my condition explained in simple lay man terms including the upside and downside of each. He came across to me as a doctor who really cared for his patients and who really wanted to give them the best possible treatment and care. His expertise and professionalism really shone through and I immediately felt I was in good hands. Thanks to him to him the operation was a great success and his monitoring of my post operation progress continues to be very thorough and caring. Dr Abela was fantastic at every step of the procedure with our daughter. He explained clearly what would happen prior to the date of her appointment, on the day made us feel calm and at ease (not easy when you’re handing your baby over to an operating team!) and provided helpful advice at her follow up appointment. Dr Abela’s secretary, Natalie, was also fantastic. She communicated what was happening so we knew where we were at all times.

I went to see Mr Abela because I had a huge stomach from pregnancy. I knew that I needed a tummy tuck. I went to see another plastic surgeon before Mr Abela and she said that I needed additional surgery, she mentioned that my stomach muscles were weak. She gave me Mr Abela details and I contacted him. From the first time I met him he was friendly and very informative, he knew exactly what was needed. I had the surgery and it’s been 3 months, and I feel great. I would definitely recommend Mr Abela. In my experience, which involved reconstruction following facial surgery for a deep-rooted skin cancer, Mr Abela is a brilliant plastic surgeon, who carefully explains all he is going to do, and has done. He is also easy to talk to, and very personable.
